I will just have to use another box, install FreeNAS, connect same drives and restore config from backup. On the other hand I have FreeNAS with 5 drives in it and since I have configuration backed up I'm fairly certain that I will be able to get my data back if the box fails. I have a 4-bay G-Raid here and I also expect to have a problem if the enclosure kicks the bucket. If LaCie dies I strongly suspect you need another identical one and even then I'm not sure if it will work. It should be enough for Windows to see them as separate drives. You don't have to use exactly same enclosure.

I think that you just need to figure another way to connect all your drives back to your PC and Storage Spaces should be able to recover. If I understand how Storage Spaces work correctly they may have an advantage here. If the enclosure dies you need to find another identical one and even then I'm not sure you'll have your data back. I was definitely in the market for a budget solution for the leftoversīTW the RAID protects against a disk failure but less so from enclosure failure.
